End of the transitional period, Brexit

The UK Withdrawal Agreement, which entered into force on February 1, 2020, provided for a transitional period, until December 31, 2020; period in which European Union legislation, including that relating to the free movement of goods, services, people and workers, would continue to apply in the United Kingdom.

As of January 1, the Future Relationship Agreements with the United Kingdom will come into force, consisting of a Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and EURATOM, on the one hand, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, of other; an Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the European Atomic Energy Community for cooperation on the safe and peaceful uses of nuclear energy and an Agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland del Norte regarding security procedures for the exchange and protection of classified information. The first of the aforementioned Agreements sets out how the commercial relations between both Parties will be.
